FAQs
I’ve never had a massage. What should I expect?
You are the client and this is YOUR massage. I want you to be comfortable and relaxed. I will ask about the temperature of the table heater (yes, there is a table heater and it is very cozy) throughout the massage. I will ask you about the pressure that I’m doing and if you would prefer more, less, or the same amount of pressure. If there are specific areas that are bothering you, I will work on those. There will be soft music playing and the lights will be dim. Think of it as a fully immersive relaxation experience that will leave you feeling like a blissful, relaxed noodle.
How can I book a massage?
Click on the “Book now” button on the upper right page of this site or under each service on the Services page. It will take you to my GlossGenius site, where you can choose which services you’d like and look for available dates and times. Once you have booked, you will be sent a Health History form, as well as a Policies and Procedures form. Please be sure to print and fill these out in advance so that we don’t lose any time at your appointment.
What should I wear to my massage? Do I have to be fully naked? What parts get massaged?
You do you! I always tell clients to undress to their level of comfort. If you feel most comfortable keeping all of your clothes on, that’s A-ok. If you want to get fully naked, that’s fine, too. You can always feel free to leave your underwear on. The way that I massage will be based on your level of undress, as I do not want to get any oil or cream on your clothing.
You will be modestly draped with a sheet and blanket at all times, and the only area that is undraped at a time will be the area that is being massaged. Areas that will be massaged include the back, neck, head, face, arms, legs, hands, and feet. You will never be “exposed.” Draping is required.
As far as what to wear to a massage, I like to think of it as what do you want to wear after your massage? I always like to crawl into comfy and loose sweats after a massage, but again, you do you. A hot, damp towel will be provided at the end of your massage in case you’d like to wipe off excess oil or cream, in case you are headed back to work or an event afterwards.
Do I need to talk during my massage?
Absolutely not! This is YOUR massage and you make the rules. If you want to chat, I am more than happy to chat right back! Do not feel pressured to talk, though. One of the biggest complaints of massage clients is massage therapists who talk too much! This is your time to unwind and relax, and I fully respect that.
What if I fall asleep?
It is 100% okay for you to fall asleep during a massage! I find that “massage sleep” is not like normal sleep. At least for me, my brain goes to all different states of consciousness during a massage. Let your body and brain drift where they want to go. There is no right or wrong way to get a massage.
How frequently should I get a massage?
As frequently as you like, and as your schedule and budget allow! Massage is an excellent way to reduce stress, improve sleep, and relieve muscle tension and soreness. There are many types of massage modalities and it may take you a couple times to figure out your favorite type and preferred length.
Is deep tissue really the best?
Some people like a light and gentle massage, while others like firmer pressure. This is YOUR massage and I will work with you to figure out what pressure feels the best for you. You should not be sore the day after a massage and you should especially not be bruised! Firmer is not necessarily better.
Do you offer gift certificates or packages?
I will be offering these soon! Keep an eye on my GlossGenius page and social media accounts for updates.
What is your cleaning protocol between clients?
All linens (fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, face cradle cover, bolster cover, pillowcases) and towels are removed between clients and everything that a client may have touched is disinfected with a hospital-grade disinfectant. Clean linens and towels are replaced for the next client. I take cleanliness very seriously and want to keep you (and myself) safe! All linens and sheets are washed in hot water with hypoallergenic detergent and laundry sanitizer, then dried on high heat with wool dryer balls.
Where are you located?
Cocooning Massage & Wellness is located inside Skin Dynamics at 123 East Division Street in Eagle River, WI.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before scheduled date/time. This time allows for finding new clients for that time slot. If cancellations are made with less than 24-hours notice, clients will be charged for 50% of the rate of their booked service. If clients fail to appear for their appointment, they will be charged 100% of the rate of their booked service. For these reasons, credit cards must be kept on file. If a client is brand new and fails to arrive to their first appointment, they will not be allowed to book in the future.
What payment types do you accept?
Cash, local checks, and credit/debit cards are accepted. Credit cards will incur a 2.5% fee.
